House approves NSA wiretapping bill; seperate Senate version coming to vote

The House approved its own version of an NSA wiretapping bill yesterday while a separate version was moving toward a vote in the Senate. See House Approves Power for Warrantless Wiretaps in today’s NY Times. The Washington Post article is here.

The Republicans in the House extolled their bill as showing that Democrats were soft on terrorism (see also CNN.com here), never mentioning that they were seeking to crush civil liberties in the process.
