OH3: Home burglar alarm company call and partially open door is exigency

Home burglar alarm brought the police via the alarm company. They found the door cracked open, and that was exigent circumstances for an entry. State v. Foster, 2015-Ohio-3401, 2015 Ohio App. LEXIS 3316 (3d Dist. August 24, 2015).

The certified search question here is not dispositive of the case, so the appeal is dismissed. State v. Snider, 2015 Tenn. Crim. App. LEXIS 681 (August 25, 2015).*

Defendant was driving a rental car in somebody else’s name, and he gave a false name. It took awhile, but the officers ascertained that defendant had a parole warrant out for him. He lacked standing in the car. United States v. Byrd, 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 113281 (M.D.Pa. August 26, 2015).*
