WaPo: A judge signed a warrant to search a journalist. But police didn’t tell her the whole story.

Police officers in San Francisco did not tell a judge that a man they sought a search warrant for was a reporter, according to records released Tuesday. In May, Bryan Carmody was being investigated as police looked for the source of a leaked police report about the death of public defender Jeff Adachi. In a sworn affidavit submitted to a California Superior Court judge, a San Francisco police sergeant said Carmody was ‘not currently employed by any of the news organizations that obtained the death investigation report.’
