Record supported abandonment of motel room on checkout day

Evidence supported the conclusion that defendant had abandoned the motel room he was in. It was checkout day, and he was seen running with a suitcase away from it, and the manager gave chase, among other things. In addition, the first entry produced nothing. United States v. James, 534 F.3d 868 (8th Cir. 2008).*

The search of defendant’s house was justified as a probation search with reasonable suspicion and because defendant consented to it. United States v. Becker, 534 F.3d 952 (8th Cir. 2008).*
