PRINCETON — A recent high court ruling threatened to put the brakes on the popular law enforcement “Santa Stops,” however local troopers have found a way to continue the holiday tradition while staying within the boundaries of the law.

In a recent memo to law enforcement agencies, Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ash pointed out that these stops are a violation of the Fourth Amendment, even though officers are simply committing “random acts of kindness.”
