Defendant leased a laptop computer from Aaron’s and he had it password protected. This gave him a legitimate expectation of privacy in it. Thumbnail images were presented to a USMJ for a search warrant, and the court was uncomfortable with most of them being child pornography, but one image of a nude child facing the camera in a slightly provocative pose was enough to support the warrant. Nexus to the premises was shown by trash pulls. United States v. Hill, 2011 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 56840 (N.D. Fla. May 26, 2011).* On a second search warrant, nexus was shown by direct observation of the officers of defendant’s comings and goings to drug deals. United States v. Hill, 2011 U.S. Dist. The affidavit showed a large scale drug operation for a search of ten residences, so it was not stale. United States v. Curran, 2011 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 57117 (W.D. Pa. May 27, 2011).*
