Note to readers: Updated citations haven’t been coming from Lexis; page proofs to paper supplement done

I noticed about 3 or so months ago that Lexis has not been sending me second or even third versions of cases as the citations or text update.

For instances, when headnotes appear, I’d get a case again. Then the citation would be updated to include the National Reporter citations, e.g., F.3d, I’d get it again.

Bottom line: When the case is published by West, Lexis doesn’t send an updated citation anymore. I used to get them all again when they appeared in the National Reporter System, and I’d update the citation here. Consequently, the formal book form citation is going to go missing until the supplement is published for the book unless I stumble upon it and include it (usually by using the case myself). I just don’t have the time to run every citation after about 60 days to see if it’s been updated. I have a day job that’s more important.

Maybe I could hire a law student to update the citations. We’ll see about that, but, but for F.3d and a couple of states that are published within 4-6 weeks, most others are 4-6 months, some even 1 year late. (At one point, Arkansas was 2½ years behind going into S.W.3d.)

Paper supplement to Treatise: The page proofs are in, so the supplement to the book will be out soon.
