Now somebody in Congress wants to get into the act too:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Low-income parents seeking federal assistance would be forced to sign away their Fourth Amendment rights under a bill proposed last week by Republican Rep. Stephen Fincher of Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/thomas.loc.gov\/cgi-bin\/query\/z?c112:H.R.3193:\">Welfare Integrity Act of 2013<\/a> would require applicants for and recipients of assistance under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program to sign a waiver of their constitutional rights and submit to random drug tests. The program helps poor families with children pay for living expenses such as rent, heat, utilities and personal care items.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently the federal government enables drug abusers a safety-net by allowing them to participate in the TANF program,\u201d Fincher said Monday in a statement. \u201cInstead of having to make the hard-choice between drugs and other essential needs, abusers are able to rely on their monthly check to help them pay their bills.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cRoast me! Hang me! Do whatever you please,\u201d said Brer Rabbit. \u201cOnly please, Brer Fox, please don&#8217;t throw me into the briar patch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t get them to do anything else, so why don&#8217;t they just violate poor people&#8217;s rights?
