\u201cGiven the above precedent, we disagree with the State that the community caretaking doctrine remains a viable purpose for a warrantless entry into a home. Instead, we believe that the Caniglia decision clearly rejected the community caretaking exception outside of the community caretaking or public safety exception for vehicles (see People v. Ursini, \u2026 (1993)). Community caretaking and emergency aid are separate activities where the one, community caretaking, could lead to an emergency aid situation necessitating a warrantless entry, but simply engaging in community caretaking in and of itself does not justify a warrantless entry into a home. We are proceeding under this understanding until such time as our supreme court provides additional guidance.\u201d People v. Stallings<\/a>, 2026 IL App (5th) 240309, 2026 Ill.
