After a valid stop, the parolee gave a false name, and the officer eventually got the right name and parole status. A search of the whole car was permissible even though the passenger was a parolee under People v. Schmitz, 55 Cal.4th 909 (2012), decided two years before this search. First, there is a reduced expectation of privacy in a car in general. Second, supervision of parolees is far more intense than probationers. Third, the entire passenger compartment is essentially a common area. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.courts.ca.gov\/opinions\/documents\/D069959.PDF\">People v. Cervantes<\/a>, 2017 Cal.
