{"id":17011,"date":"2015-04-29T10:10:32","date_gmt":"2015-04-29T15:10:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fourthamendment.com\/?p=17011"},"modified":"2015-04-29T10:10:52","modified_gmt":"2015-04-29T15:10:52","slug":"st-louis-public-radio-senate-gives-first-approval-to-bill-changing-states-deadly-force-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fourthamendment.com\/?p=17011","title":{"rendered":"St. Louis Public Radio: Senate gives first approval to bill changing state&#8217;s deadly force law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>St. Louis Public Radio: <a href=\"http:\/\/news.stlpublicradio.org\/post\/senate-gives-first-approval-bill-changing-states-deadly-force-law\">Senate gives first approval to bill changing state&#8217;s deadly force law<\/a> by Ray Howze:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Missouri Senate is moving on a bill that would limit the use of deadly force by police.<\/p>\n<p>The measure, approved by a voice vote Tuesday, changes the state&#8217;s language to allow deadly force only when an officer &#8220;reasonably believes&#8221; the suspect has committed or will attempt to commit a felony that threatens or involves &#8220;serious physical injury&#8221; and &#8220;may otherwise endanger life or inflict serious physical injury to the officer or others unless arrested without delay.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When I heard the DA explaining the grand jury charge in the Ferguson case, I immediately thought that Missouri law doesn&#8217;t comply with <a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.com\/scholar_case?case=5843997099226288287&#038;q=tennessee+v.+garner&#038;hl=en&#038;as_sdt=1006\">Tennessee v.
