Dillard<\/a>, 2021-NCCOA-254, 2021 N.C. App. LEXIS 250 (June 1, 2021).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Defendant wasn\u2019t in custody for Miranda purposes during a traffic stop even though the officer knew he\u2019d arrest him. Officer \u201cHatfield did not tell the Defendant that he had already determined that the Defendant would definitely be arrested as a result of the traffic stop, and he did not raise the specter of arrest as a tool to coerce the Defendant into making a statement. Instead, he was responding to the Defendant&#8217;s hypothetical question regarding what action he would take if the Defendant did not cooperate with further investigation.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tncourts.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/eric_manzenberger_opinion_-_unsigned.pdf\">State v.
