An excerpt from the National Archives\u2019 official transcript of the Declaration of Independence. A scholar is arguing that the period after \u201cthe pursuit of happiness\u201d \u2014 shown in an 1823 engraving \u2014 does not appear on the 1776 parchment original. <\/p>\n
