{"id":10395,"date":"2014-02-16T12:59:10","date_gmt":"2014-02-16T12:57:02","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-02-16T12:57:02","slug":"en-US","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/fourthamendment.com\/?p=10395","title":{"rendered":"The Hill: NSA reform stalls in committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Hill: <a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/hillicon-valley\/technology\/198501-nsa-reforms-stalls-in-committee#ixzz2tVbiRGZS\">NSA reform stalls in committee<\/a> by Julian Hattem:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Legislation to rein in the National Security Agency\u2019s surveillance programs has stalled in the House and Senate.<\/p>\n<p>More than 130 House lawmakers in both parties have signed on as co-sponsors to legislation that would prevent the NSA from collecting bulk records about people\u2019s phone calls. In the Senate, companion legislation has won 20 co-sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>Both bills, however, have been stuck in their chambers\u2019 respective Judiciary Committees since October, and committee aides say there are no plans to move them soon.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, Congress, the body to determine public policy in surveillance, doesn&#8217;t care.
