{"id":10348,"date":"2014-02-07T17:41:21","date_gmt":"2014-02-07T17:34:13","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-02-07T17:34:13","slug":"en-US","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/fourthamendment.com\/?p=10348","title":{"rendered":"NLJ: Chief Justice Roberts Names Two Judges to Surveillance Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NLJ: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationallawjournal.com\/id=1202642070595\/Chief-Justice-Roberts-Names-Two-Judges-to-Surveillance-Court#ixzz2sg6kGgoa\">Chief Justice Roberts Names Two Judges to Surveillance Court<\/a> by Todd Ruger:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. has named two federal judges\u2014both appointed by Democrat presidents\u2014to sit on secret courts in Washington that review government surveillance applications.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts designated U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, appointed by President Obama to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, to serve on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court for a term that starts in May.<\/p>\n<p>Boasberg would take the place of U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton, a George W. Bush appointee who serves on the Washington federal trial bench.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts also designated Judge Richard Tallman, a Clinton nominee who sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, as a judge of the United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review.
